When you’re new to faith, one of the first — and most important — questions you might ask is: Who is Jesus?
Maybe you’ve heard His name before in songs, church, or even in passing conversation. But understanding who Jesus truly is can change your entire life. In fact, it’s the heart of Christianity itself.
So let’s start simple: Jesus is God’s Son, Savior of the world, and the truest picture we have of God’s love.
Jesus: More Than Just a Good Teacher
Some people think of Jesus as just a wise man, a kind moral teacher, or a historical figure.
And it’s true — He taught amazing things about love, forgiveness, and living a life that honors God.
But Jesus is far more than a teacher.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Son of God, sent from heaven to rescue us. He lived a perfect, sinless life. He showed us what God’s heart looks like — full of compassion, grace, truth, and power. And then, in the greatest act of love, Jesus gave His life on the cross for us — so that every wrong, every sin, every broken place in us could be forgiven and made whole.
Why Did Jesus Come?
Jesus came because we needed a Savior.
The truth is, no matter how hard we try, we all fall short. We all have brokenness in our lives — selfishness, mistakes, hurt — and we can’t fix it on our own.
But God didn’t want to leave us stuck. He made a way.
Jesus stepped into our world to bridge the gap between us and God. Through His death and resurrection, He offers us forgiveness, new life, and a restored relationship with God. All we have to do is believe and receive His gift.
“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NLT)
What Is Jesus Like?
When you read about Jesus in the Bible, you’ll notice something beautiful:
- He welcomes the outcasts.
- He shows mercy to the broken.
- He speaks truth with love.
- He listens to the hurting.
- He forgives even the deepest failures.
Jesus is not distant or harsh. He is personal, kind, strong, and full of life. And He invites you to come close — just as you are — to know Him, walk with Him, and be changed by His love.
How Can You Begin a Relationship with Jesus?
It starts with a simple step: trusting Him. You don’t have to have all the answers or be perfect. You simply need to open your heart and say, “Jesus, I believe in You. I want to know You.”
You can talk to Him right now, just like you would a friend. Ask Him to forgive you, guide you, and show you who He is. He promises to meet you there.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in…” (Revelation 3:20, NIV)
You Are Invited
Understanding Jesus isn’t about memorizing facts. It’s about meeting a Person — the living Savior who knows you, loves you, and invites you to walk with Him every day.
If you remember just one thing, remember this:
Jesus came for you.
Jesus loves you.
And Jesus is still inviting you to follow Him, right now.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to say yes. Your journey with Jesus can begin today — and it will be the greatest adventure of your life.
